Lullabies for the land is a book of 18 harp arrangements, suitable for lever and pedal harp, of lullabies from around our planet. The choices represent Eleanor's personal journey through life and continents, having been 'donated' most of the lullabies by friends and family. The aim of the book is to delight musicians with original, interesting musical arrangements, whilst ALL the proceeds from the book are split equally between the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children's Fund and the Middle East Children's Alliance. So far, over £3000 has been raised through book sales. The lullabies are from Palestine, Scotland, Ghana, Japan, Kurdistan, India, Norway, Germany, Cherokee Nation, Afghanistan, Brittany and other nations.
In July 2024, Eleanor realised that she needed to do something to cope with the grief and frustration that she was experiencing over the devastating genocide by Israel of the Palestinian people, in particular the horrific pain endured by innocent children. She teamed up with artist and designer Dima Nowarah and together they created Lullabies for the Land, a book of 18 easy and intermediate harp arrangements that celebrate culture, diversity and stand against the cultural erasure that indigenous people experience all around the globe.
The book was funded by an extremely well supported Crowdfunder that enabled 400 copies of the 54 page book to be produced (in Norfolk at Swallowtail Print). It was really important to Dima and Eleanor that the book looked and felt really special, so as to become a cherished work of art for a lifetime, for those who had helped to fund the project as well as new supporters. Lullabies for the Land continues to reach new audiences.
